ABOUT SIVAK PIANO SERVICE
Iíve been tuning pianos since 1980, although Iíve only been doing it full-time since 1995. I have a Masterís Degree in Music
from Northern Illinois University and played piano professionally for 20 years before going full-time with piano tuning.
I am a member of the Piano Technicianís Guild, and attained Registered Piano Technician status in 2006. In order to become an
RPT, one must pass three rigorous examinations: Tuning, Repair, and Regulation. It is the only industry standard that a piano tuner can
achieve. To find out more about the PTG, or Registered Piano Technicians, go to ptg.org.
I love pianos. My love affair with the piano began at the age of 7 and I still play every day. I own a Yamaha Model 25,
manufactured in the 1970s, and itís the best piano Iíve ever had. It traveled down here with me from Chicago and where ever I go, it will go, too.
I understand that a piano is more than a piece of furniture. Itís more than a musical instrument. Itís a haven, an escape from the world of
technology, machines, and speed. When I sit down at my piano, I feel stress melt away. After a few minutes, nothing exists but me and my piano.
With regular maintenance, your piano can continue to bless you with years of enjoyment and serenity as mine has.
Itís been said in piano technician journals, ďYou donít service the piano. You service the client.Ē Knowing what
serenity a piano can bring to its owner, I believe in that firmly. My goal is not just to tune your piano, but make it sound better,
and play better, too. If I succeed in that goal, Iíve done my job.
